Born in Zaragoza, Spain, Abraham Vélez de Cea previously taught Buddhism, Buddhist Ethics, and Buddhist-Christian Mysticism in the Department of Theology at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. His research interests include contemporary presentations of the Buddha, Buddhist ethics, and interreligious studies (Buddhist-Christian responses to religious diversity, contemplative practices and virtue cultivation in Theravāda Buddhism and Catholic mysticism). At present he is working on a book project about interreligious discipleship and the possibility of Buddhist-Christian belonging. He is author of The Buddha and Religious Diversity, 2013, and additional journal articles.
