Annual meeting
The 2018 meeting of the Society was wonderful—with stimulating panels and presentations, personal sharing, and thoughtful conversation. Thank you, presenters and attendees, for making this such a successful meeting.
SBCS Trip to the Denver Buddhist Temple
A delegation of the Society visited the Denver Buddhist Temple, a Jodo-Shinshu temple serving multiple states that dates back to the 1920’s. After World War II, Japanese interred in camps in Colorado and Wyoming were invited to resettle in Colorado by the governor, and 20,000 came to Denver. They eventually raised $50,000 and purchased land near downtown Denver, building a church, community center, and housing. It is still a jewel of downtown Denver. We were hosted by Rev. Diane Thompson for an informative visit.
